Impact of D-dimer level on postinterventional coronary flow and in-hospital MACE in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Impact of D-dimer level on postinterventional coronary flow and in-hospital MACE in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Objective: Preintervention thrombus burden in the infarct-related artery is an independent predictor of no-reflow and adverse outcomes in coronary artery disease. The role of D-dimers in the acute phase of ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has not been fully elucidated. We aimed to investigate the predictive value of serum D-dimer levels on the outcome of patients with STEMI.

GGT as predictor of coronary collateral development in chronic coronary total occlusion

GGT as predictor of coronary collateral development in chronic coronary total occlusion

We read with great interest the manuscript written by Şahin et al. (1) February issue of Anatolian Journal of Cardiology. In that study they investigated the relation between gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) level and presence of coronary collateral circulation in patients with chronic total occlusion (CTO). They found that GGT was an independent predictor of poor collateral development

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is associated with severity of coronary artery ectasia

We investigated the association between coronary artery ectasia (CAE) and Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), an indicator of the inflammatory state.

Mean platelet volume is associated with poor postinterventional myocardial blush grade in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Mean platelet volume is associated with poor postinterventional myocardial blush grade in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Objective: In a significant proportion of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), microvascular and myocardial reperfusion cannot be regained despite successfully restored thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) grade 3 epicardial blood flow. Myocardial blush grade (MBG) is a reliable marker for microvascular patency and predicts short-term and long-term mortality after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with acute STEMI, independent of other variables. Mean platelet volume (MPV), a unique measure of platelet size, is an indicator of platelet reactivity. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relation of admission MPV with postinterventional MBG in patients with STEMI and TIMI grade 3 flow at infarct artery after primary PCI.

Tenascin-C as predictor of left ventricular remodeling and mortality in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy

Tenascin-C as predictor of left ventricular remodeling and mortality in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy

Background: Several cardiac biomarkers, especially brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal (NT)-proBNP, have been used as predictors of prognosis and negative remodeling in DCM. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of tenascin-C in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and whether it can be used to determine reverse remodeling in patients with DCM.

The relation of serum γ-glutamyl transferase levels and coronary collateral circulation in patients with chronic coronary total occlusion

The relation of serum γ-glutamyl transferase levels and coronary collateral circulation in patients with chronic coronary total occlusion

Objectives: Sufficient coronary collateral circulation (CCC) protects myocardial tissue against ischemia in patients with coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO). In this study, we aimed to investigate whether there is an association between serum γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels and development of CCC in patients with coronary CTO.

Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio predicts SYNTAX score in patients with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction

In this study we aimed to investigate whether there is an association between the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) using the SYNTAX score (SXscore).
